COURSE OF STUDY FOR GRADES 6-12

Although the scope and sequence is organized chronologically, students may enter some courses according to their ability as determined through admission testing. All courses have the prerequisite of a sixth grade standing, unless otherwise indicated. History and English Literature are taught separately but integrate in content and include some emphasis on philosophy and the arts to provide an interdisciplinary study of the story of world history through primary sources, with an emphasis on the spread of the gospel throughout the development of Western civilization. The approach will include instruction and discussion seminars designed to develop each student’s thinking through all aspects of rhetoric including listening, speaking, reading and writing. Content emphasizes how God has revealed His goodness, man’s sinfulness, and God’s great redemption through the work of Jesus Christ. Although designed to be studied in chronological order, courses are available as appropriate. NOTE: Most courses may be taken by home-schoolers on a space-available basis. Note: Each school day includes seven 50-minute periods. Credit is granted at the end of each semester on the following basis: For each class that meets four or five periods per week for a full semester: 0.5 credits; for each class that meets two or three periods per week for a full semester: 0.25 credits.
