Veritas Christian Academy exists to help parents in their task of training their school-aged children to exercise godly dominion under the authority of God’s Word. We endeavor to educate generations of Christian students in the Silicon Valley to think, live and excel for Jesus Christ.
We proclaim Jesus Christ as the way, the truth, and the life, and the curriculum and course work at Veritas reflects that He is the source of all authority. Therefore, all subjects are taught from a distinctively Christian worldview, cultivating in our students knowledge, understanding and wisdom. We affirm the reliability of the Bible and assert that all areas of life and thought are subject to the Word of God. Thus, permeating our entire curriculum is the practical application of loving God with heart, mind, soul and strength and one’s neighbors as oneself. Veritas students are encouraged to work heartily, as unto the Lord, in whatever their hands find to do.
We aim to graduate young men and women who think clearly and listen carefully with discernment and understanding; who reason persuasively and articulate precisely; who are capable of evaluating their entire range of experience in the light of the Scriptures; and who do so with eagerness in joyful submission to God. We desire them to recognize cultural influences as distinct from biblical, and to be unswayed toward evil by the former. We aim to find them well-prepared in all situations, possessing both information and the knowledge of how to use it. We desire they be socially graceful and spiritually gracious; equipped with and understanding the tools of learning; desiring to grow in understanding, yet fully realizing the limitations and foolishness of the wisdom of this world. We desire they have a heart for the lost and the courage to seek to dissuade those who are stumbling toward destruction; that they distinguish real religion from religion in form only; and that they possess the former, knowing and loving the Lord Jesus Christ. And all these we desire them to possess with humility and gratitude to God.
Veritas Christian Academy is not affiliated with a specific congregation or denomination, but we are firmly committed to providing instruction within the framework of an orthodox, evangelical and biblical worldview. Following in the footsteps of the apostles, the early church and the Protestant Reformers, we seek to take "every thought captive to the obedience of Christ." (2 Cor. 10:5)
Accordingly, the core doctrines that we teach regarding God and his Word are laid out in the following Statement of Faith.
Our Statement of Faith
We accept wholeheartedly the revelation of God given in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments and confess the faith therein set forth and summarized in such historic statements of the Christian church as the Apostles' Creed and the Nicene Creed. We are committed to the Reformation doctrines of sola scriptura (scripture alone), solus Christus (Christ alone), sola gratia (grace alone), sola fide (faith alone), and soli deo gloria (for God's glory alone). We here explicitly assert doctrines that are regarded as crucial to the understanding and proclamation of the gospel and to practical Christian living.
1. We affirm the sovereignty and grace of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in creation, providence, revelation, redemption and final judgment, to God's glory alone.
2. We affirm the divine inspiration of Holy Scripture alone and its consequent entire trustworthiness and supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
3. We affirm the universal sinfulness and guilt of human nature since the fall, bringing everyone under God's wrath and condemnation.
4. We affirm the substitutionary sacrifice of the incarnate Son of God as the sole ground of redemption from the guilt, penalty and power of sin.
5. We affirm the justification of the sinner by the grace of God alone through faith alone in Christ crucified and risen from the dead.
6. We affirm the illuminating, regenerating, indwelling and sanctifying work of God the Holy Spirit in the believer.
7. We affirm the unity and common priesthood of all true believers, who together form the one universal Church, the Body of which Christ is the Head.
8. We affirm the expectation of the personal, visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
